I began part one of an ongoing series about colors and bass fishing. As with many of my pieces, it rapidly went down other worm holes (pun intended). Not only about colors, but strategies, mindsets, and even marketing. The series is not ready to debut as of yet. I began preparing a report of my latest adventure. A fishing report from a trip on 2/18/23 at one of my favorite bodies of water. Not only will this be a conditions report, I also made some important observations that will tie into the upcoming series that I have planned.   Twenty six chilly degrees as I left the house on the morning of February 18, 2023, a bit later than I prefer, avoiding people at the launching area, and also avoiding   traffic on the drive. Plus an early start gives me more time, and more time on the water. As a bonus I have an earlier time returning home. Not surprising, no one is at the launch, a man pulls in as I am preparing to put the kayak in the water. We speak for a few minutes, ...

RANT Cici at a National Monument! I do not even want to write today. I should write, but I don't want to. I wrote quite a lot of material this week, but I have chosen it is not a good time for me to share it. Some of it was rants, some was me whining, some was me being sad. So I choose not to write. I should write, but I am choosing not to write. I made some bad decisions this week, and I failed at something! Imagine that? I failed. Earth shattering news I know. Maybe fake news? No, I myself fact checked it and it is verified. I failed at cooking! The wilted green soup was a failure. Oh well, life goes on, I am not afraid of failing. In fact, I fail quite often. It is no big deal though, do you fail? Are you scared of failing? These bad decisions I made, created stress for me, did you know 90% of stress is self created? Or, at least I think it is. Everything has worked out ok, but it did make me into a cranky little Yankee! So, I guess I am writing a little, even though I d...

This a recycled piece from a while back. Keep your "TOOLS" clean. February 10, 2022 Eons ago when I began in the Machine trades it was repeated over, and over again that one of the most important aspects of our work was CLENLINESS.   I heard it so many times that it began to get annoying. Very soon after, I realized the important role of cleanliness.   Many of the best lessons learned come from examples. A small particle of debris on the taper of an R8 collett of one thousandth of an inch (.001") can create Total Indicated Run out (TIR) of a tool of .002" or more Depending on the length of the tool. That is only one of many examples. All vises, fixtures, measuring tools must be kept clean. I now go as far to say laboratory clean.   Dust, often created from grinding and sanding operations needs to be separate from other processes and operations. Best in a space that is ultimately separate.   Dust from grinding not only can damage machine tools but also is a he...

1/3/23   This may be a short one today. Spent time attempting to create exposure. You can help by sharing, and even interacting with the pieces that are conversational. As this journey continues, the content and the quality might improve. The content may be all over the place, and to many may seem boring. Boring? Yes! That brings up today's topic.   Boredom is not a four letter word! Of course it is not, it is a seven letter word. But I am not one for formalities and normally will say “fuck it” and continue along.   For as long as I can remember one thing that would create fear among parents is a bored child! “I am bored” would send most parents into a level 4 alert.   Bored children get into trouble they claim. That brings up another great point, define trouble.   Trouble for many kids was stealing parents cigarettes, being late for dinner, going someplace you was told not to, hanging out with the ‘bad’ crowd, only names a few.   I, myself was exempt from ...
